Dear Margaret, Paul, Michael and Marie-Louise,
August 8, 2025
I was deeply saddened to learn of George’s passing. Reaching the age of 90, he lived a full and meaningful life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and friendship that touched many.
George was a treasured friend of my dear Mum, Helen, and their connection was one forged through shared experiences and the unique challenges of being migrants in a new country. Mum often recalled with warmth the many years they spent together in their youth — navigating unfamiliar lands, learning to build a life from scratch, and supporting each other through the struggles and joys that came with it.
Mum’s time working for the Pongraz family was formative, and she frequently spoke about how much she learned about hard work, integrity, and community during those years. George’s presence and friendship were an important part of that journey. They grew alongside one another, their lives intertwined by common roots and mutual respect.
George and Mum shared such a lasting bond, one that spanned decades and enriched both their lives. Though Mum is no longer with us, I believe the memories they created together remain a beautiful testament to enduring friendship and the strength found in family — chosen and given.
Please accept my deepest condolences. May George’s memory live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and may you find peace in the love and legacy he leaves behind.
