  5. I have fond childhood memories forever etched in my mind and heart of living next door to ‘Uncle Alan,’ Marlene, Nadine and Justin in Collendina and of Alan calling me Lynels (I am unsure how to spell it as Alan made it up!) i had forgotten about this nick name until i heard of Alan’s passing when ‘Lynels’ suddenly resonated in my mind. I remember having bbq’s there on a homemade brick bbq and Alan having a beer in his hand and there always being plenty of meat on the bbq and I remember that I got to have white bread with a sausage which was a real treat as mum wouldn’t buy us white bread as kids. The friendship between the Mitchell and Wilson family continued long on through the years after the move from Collendina for both families. Alan spent time in Darwin with dad (Greg Wilson) when I moved up there and they had many fishing and crocodile catching adventures with Tom for the latter, in the first 10 years of me living up north.
Uncle Alan was family and my heartfelt condolences go to Nadine and Justin and other family members on saying goodbye to this true Aussie character. Goodbye Uncle Alan – Lynley, Tom, Arnhem, Ayla xxxx
