  2. I knew Dottie as a fierce advocate for Barkindji people on the Willandra Lakes World Heritage Area Elders Council. She was resolute in her desire for Country and Culture to be respected, the improvement of employment opportunities for Traditional Owners, and the return of artefacts and remains. I’m pleased that much of this was achieved in her time. Her drive and commitment gave impetus to improving the rights of Traditional Owners and I am proud to have known her and to have worked with her. A great camaraderie develops with those who experience Mungo, and I thank Dottie for her contribution to me and to the causes in which she believed.I am sad not to be at her funeral in person, but my thoughts are with all friends and family, those who knew and appreciated her spirit, and the ancestors with whom she now walks. All my love, Richard Mintern
