Passed away December 22, 2021.

Surrounded by his loving family, John passed away at Chaffey Aged Care, Merbein, on December 22, 2021, aged 73 years. Loving husband of Susan. Adored father of Brock.

John was a much-loved son of Jack and Flo (both dec).  Loved brother of Betty Maude (dec), Valmai Hancock (dec), Lorna Biddle, Lindsay Gates (dec), Margaret Millett, Florence Hancock (dec), Elaine Simmons, Jennifer Thomas, twin of Leslie Gates, and their partners and families.

Loved son-in-law of Arthur and Joan Gathercole (both dec).  Brother-in-law of Ross Gathercole, Margaret Liguori and their families.

A friend to many.

Family and friends of the late Mr John Gates are respectfully informed that his graveside funeral service will be conducted at Murray Pines Lawn Cemetery, Mildura South, on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 2.00pm.

If preferred, in lieu of flowers, donations to Chaffey Aged Care would be appreciated and may be made at the service.

  2. We are sorry not to be able to attend John’s funeral, health issues. Will miss as he was our groomsman at our wedding in 1972. We have fond memories of travelling and racing all over the country, they were good times. So sad for Sue and Brock, Les and the extended family.

  6. Dear Sue and Brock, we are so sad that our distance keeps us apart. We wish we could be there at this time. I have fond memories of Uncle John from when I was just a little tacker out on the farm….both of us must have been cheeky as I remember him chasing me around but couldn’t catch me! And also growing up I always loved going to watch the sidecar racing and seeing my Uncle John and Uncle Leslie race. Thinking of you and sending all my love – Glenise and husband David
