  2. As I contemplate losing you from our lives its made me think how much we all change. The man that you were… free, roaming across outback Australia. The husband you became making a new life with all your worldly possessions packed into the back of a WW2 jeep. Making a home and the husband became a father and a farmer with family and responsibilities. The grandfather who held is first baby grandson, a grandson that remembers time on the farm with joy and warmth… golden moments of my life. And then late in life, a Great Grandfather. We could see the joy in your eyes as you held the newest members of your family.

In the last few months you told me how much you loved the sound of children in the hospital, because it reminded you of when your children were young. You told me you missed Nana so terribly much since we lost her.

You were my last connection to some of my most treasured memories. Maybe that’s why it hurts so much.

You lived well and you lived long. Goodbye for now grandad. We love you. RIP.
