What a force of joy our Lily was — a true queen of laughter, chatter, and never-ending cups of tea! You could never visit the Skiadas home without being ushered straight to that famous dining table, where the kettle was always on and the cake tins never empty.

Lily had that special gift — she turned an ordinary afternoon into a party, just by being there. Her positive outlook lit up every room, and her love for family and friends wrapped around us all like the best hug. She knew how to make everyone feel welcome — the Skiadas door was never closed for long!

I’ll forever treasure those moments sitting with Lil and Harry, solving the world’s problems over a cuppa and a smorgasbord of biscuits and cakes (because one was never enough). There was always room for one more, another cup, another laugh, another story.

One hilarious memory. I borrowed clothes from Lily to attend Maree’s M themed birthday party in Melbourne. All night I carried a cassette recorder with Lily’s voice bellowing out. I went as Maree’s mum. Lots of fun!!

Now Lily is back with her beloved Harry. Rest peacefully, sweet lady — your warmth, humour, and big-hearted love will echo around that forever-rotating door for years to come.

Our loving cousins, linked together, through our mothers, the twin sisters. And just like our mums, we will always be linked together, grieving the loss of your mum, our aunt Lily.

We were all fortunate to be touched by your mum’s warmth and generosity. As a young girl visiting Mildura with the family, there were so many happy and beautiful memories at the Nichols Point home. Then in the later years, at the family home on 12th Street, which I will continue to treasure.

Your mum had such a zest for life, she always made you feel at home and loved. And that love will always be cherished.

We were fortunate to have had aunt Lily with us for 90 years. That is a blessing we can saviour. Now she will have an eternity of peace. May she RIP.

We will all miss Lily, more so her twin sister, Heather Papalois, who in her own way would be feeling an emptiness.

Today, we celebrate the extraordinary life of a remarkable woman—our dear Yiayia Lily—who graced this world for 90 beautiful years. Her life was a tapestry of love, wisdom, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness.

Yiayia was more than just a grandmother—she was the heart of the Skiadas family. Whether in Nichols Point or Mildura, Yiayia’s house was always filled with love and warmth. We will always be grateful for the comforting smell of her cooking, and stories that bridged generations. Yiayia taught us what it means to love unconditionally and to face life’s challenges with grace and dignity.

We will always remember Yiayia’s generosity—her giving spirit never wavered. Yiayia had a laughter that was soft but unforgettable, her words always gentle but full of meaning. Yiayia never needed much to be happy—just her family and friends, a cuppa, some cricket on the TV or a Sunraysia Daily at hand. Whether through her actions or quiet presence, Yiayia made everyone felt safe, seen, and deeply loved.

Reaching 90 years is no small feat—it speaks to a life well lived, filled with purpose and legacy. Though our hearts are heavy, we are thankful for every moment we had with Yiayia, and every memory she leaves behind. We find solace that she is reunited with Buppoo.
